No, this is an open-end fund, which operates more like a REIT with regular redemption and liquidity opportunities vs. a closed-end fund where invested capital is locked up for the duration of the defined fund life.
-
A Fund is usually structured as a private partnership, allowing income and losses (including depreciation) to pass through directly to investors—offering potential tax advantages and the ability to offset other income. Investors receive detailed reporting via a Schedule K-1 and often benefit from more tailored investment strategies and active asset management. Funds also allow for more control over operations, distributions, and liquidity timing.
A REIT is a corporation that must distribute at least 90% of its taxable income to avoid corporate-level taxes. Investors receive a 1099-DIV, but don’t benefit from depreciation or as much transparency.
